From the Office of the Chairman:
Today I greet you in same manner that the Apostle Paul, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, greeted the church in Corinth, ‘To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours’ (1 Cor. 1:2 ESV). To the church, those of every generation in every place that call upon the name of the Lord Jesus, we give thanks unto God on behalf of you, for His grace given, setting you apart, holy and consecrated.
In this holy season of the celebration of our risen Lord Jesus, the hymn of old
entitled ‘He Lives’ will be sung by the thousands the world over. The chorus
will declare, ‘He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today. He walks with
me and talks with me along life’s narrow way. He lives, He lives, salvation
to impart. You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart’.
Following the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the baptism of those gathered in
Jerusalem, the birth of the New Testament church (Acts 2), and the healing of the lame man at Gate Beautiful, Peter and John found themselves arrested and before the Council. You will recall that it was then that Peter, being filled with the Holy Spirit, preached that ‘by the power in the name of Jesus, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, this man stands before you well in body’. Christ is our cornerstone!!! ‘Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.’ Acts 4:12.
We see that as the gospel of Christ Jesus was proclaimed in the midst of persecution and uncertainty, the focus remained on the message of Christ Jesus. The prayer that was raised was ‘Now Lord, look upon their threat and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus’ (4:30). This was the beginning of the widespread preaching of the gospel with great power and boldness (4:31, 33) as all were filled with the Holy Spirit!
Now to the called of God, be bold! You have been called by God and anointed by the Holy Spirit just as those of early church. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. The message is the message of the cross. Salvation is in Christ Jesus and Him alone! Be bold, know that it is the Lord God who has the power to heal, to bring forth signs and wonders, and to deliver from the power of darkness. By the power in the name of Jesus, the lame and afflicted shall be made whole!
I encourage you, preach the gospel with all boldness throughout this holy season and into the celebration of Pentecost and all the days ahead. Believe for the stretching forth of God’s miraculous hand.
